Hi Gang,
Many years ago, I played second base for the Texas Rangers—in our local Alexandria tee-ball league, that is. My mother was the “bench coach,” and my friend Steve’s father was our head coach. At the end of every game, we eager five-year-olds would ask, “Did we win? Did we win?!” And Coach Tom would always reply:
“Did you learn something?
Did you have fun?
Then you won.”
Applying Coach Tom’s metric, I feel just terrific about this election. I learned a ton, and I certainly had a ball.
Plenty Good News
All throughout my campaign, I was continually flattered to receive the encouragement and support of our fellow Alexandrians. Still, I was floored by the election’s final tally: over 1,000 voters cast their ballots in my favor!
In a municipality of our size, that’s no small figure. I’m so grateful for your confidence in me, and I look forward to the next opportunity to serve our township.
On that note, here’s some more good news that came out of the election: our Township Committee will be officially expanding its membership from 3 to 5 seats next year. With those two new openings on the horizon, it looks like that next opportunity might not be so far away…
Thank You.
For now, I just want to thank you again for all your support during my campaign these last several months. Votes aside, so many of you helped me in so many ways: making calls on my behalf, offering donations, handling those donations (thank you, Jeanne!), spreading the word online, and even putting yard signs on display outside your homes (hang on to those, they may be put to use again soon…!)—I can’t tell you how much it all means to me.
Most of all, thank you for your positivity and encouragement. Let’s keep on spreading that good cheer to all our neighbors throughout our beautiful township. It seems to be part of our natural environment here in Alexandria—let’s keep it growing strong.
Much love,
Max
